Supporters Association Prepare For Season Ahead

Tuesday 26/06/2012

The Hednesford Town Football Club Supporters Association are preparing for the new season ahead as the fan-based organisation looks to build upon its successes of the past two campaigns.

Both Joint-Chairmen, Scott Smith and Mark Goodwin, have explained how excited they are about the next campaign with numerous events and programmes in place to improve the standing of ‘The Pitmen’ in the community and raise money to offer the Club as it looks to build after reaching the play-offs in three consecutive seasons.

Goodwin, a founding member of the Association back in 2010, stressed how much hard work goes into the SA behind the scenes and is confident the events that are planned throughout the year will be a success.

‘The hard work of the Committee and our members has reaped real reward over the last couple of years and next season will be no different. The Pitmen Prize Draw is an important contributor to our funds and I encourage our members to get involved in the other events to ensure they too are a success.’

Fellow joint Chairman, Scott Smith, looked to concentrate on the social events as a means of raising vital funds to offer the Club to complete maintenance work around Keys Park.

‘The social events we have organised in the past, such as the hugely successful Middlesbrough FA Cup Reunion, have helped the Club no end and this year, with a Christmas Skittles Night and a Darts Night in October where fans will be able to play against professional darts player Peter Manley, supporters have the opportunity to get involved and do their bit.’

The successful fixture distribution to local businesses will continue in ernest when next seasons fixtures are released over the course of the next two weeks and the SA also plan to hold the enjoyable and informative annual ‘Meet the Manager’ evening on the eve of the big kick off, date TBC.

Keys Park will also be open to supporters on Saturday 30th June and Saturday 7th July to join the Club’s maintenance team and members of the SA in grabbing a paint brush or a broom and carrying out general improvements around the ground in preparation for the new campaign.

As always, anyone interested in joining the SA are encouraged to contact Scott Smith on upthetown629@hotmail.com or by phone on 07518144801. Those Pitmen fans who are feeling lucky can also join the Pitmen Prize Draw, where five pounds gets you entry to a monthly lottery and also sees part of the money raised go to the Club and SA, by contacting Keith Harley on kjh1955@hotmail.co.uk.
