Match Preview: AFC Telford United (A)

Tuesday 26/01/2016

Will it be a case of third time lucky for Hednesford Town and AFC Telford United this evening as they finally attempt to play the league game that has been postponed on two occasions previously?

Hopefully the game will go ahead, giving The Pitmen an immediate chance to put Saturday’s disappointment of losing to Boston United behind them when they travel to the New Bucks Head.

After a Boxing Day victory over the Bucks, the Pitmen look to secure their first league double this season.

Hednesford Town supporters will be hoping for an improvement in results at a ground that has seen mixed fortunes for the Pitmen.

Since being rebuilt in the early 2000’s we have picked up just one victory in four games played, this being a memorable FA Cup triumph in September 2013. Our last match at the New Bucks Head came two years ago when on the opening day of 2014 the Pitmen lost 5-3.

Manager Frank Sinclair is once again due to be without Andy Todd, who is recovering from a broken arm, while Tom James will face a late fitness test on a hamstring strain picked up last week.
Speaking ahead of the game he said:

“We will go into it just like we did the first game, obviously we know more about them and they know more about us.

“I’m sure they will be up for it after losing at Keys Park, this time being on their home patch for another massive derby again.

“We won’t expect it to be easy and we will have to play well and be very determined to get something out of the game.”

The Pitmen will be wearing their away strip for the game at the New Bucks Head.
