The Pitmen return to action at Keys Park this weekend after suffering the disappointment of a postponed fixture in their last scheduled game – a fate that was also suffered by Saturday’s opponents Harrogate Town.
We go into the game aiming to prevent a league double from being achieved against us after suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat up in Harrogate back in August. A goal in the last minute of stoppage time on that day saw us miss out on a point.
This was in contrast to the season before when the Pitmen recorded two victories over the Yorkshire side, with a 3-2 victory being the last meeting between the two sides at Keys Park.
After having to wait almost two weeks since the last game manager Frank Sinclair is looking forward to the game. He said:
“Looking back we were disappointed last weekend that the game was called off against Telford. The players were all at the ground and ready to go into another fixture.
“The points we accumulated before this give us something to build on going into the New Year though and we now feel very confident in being able to progress.
“We have a tough couple of home matches coming up, but hopefully our improvement can continue as we look to accumulate more points.”
The Pitmen were dealt a blow on Thursday evening as Andy Todd fractured his radius and dislocated his ulna in his arm, with him set to undergo an operation on Friday morning to repair this. Tom Thorley meanwhile continues his recovery from injury while Tom Peers came through the training session unharmed.
Meanwhile the club hope to be able to confirm two incoming loan signings on Friday.
The game kicks off at the usual Saturday time of 3.00pm.
