Hednesford Town Football Club Managerial Statement

Wednesday 02/03/2016

Shortly after our fixture against Stockport County on Tuesday evening, Hednesford Town Football Club manager Frank Sinclair departed the club.

Speaking this morning, Chairman Steve Price said: “Following a phone call last night manager Frank Sinclair offered his resignation, but also made it clear that he was willing to carry on.

“After a long conversation with Frank we agreed that it was best to go our separate ways.

“Frank and Chris Millington have worked tirelessly since joining the football club and are held in high regard by those of us who have worked with them.

“They were also instrumental in work going on behind the scenes at the club, something we are now going to continue moving forward with.

“It goes without saying that secretary Terry McMahon, myself and all those at the club who have worked with Frank and Chris wish them all the very best for the future.”

This decision came following a 3-0 defeat which saw the Pitmen fall to the bottom of the Vanarama National League North after just one league victory in 2016.

Frank Sinclair made the following statement:

Following discussions with Chairman Steve Price after the game against Stockport County, I offered my resignation as manager of Hednesford Town Football Club.

Obviously I’m very regretful that my time at the club hasn’t worked out as planned as I really felt that I could come in and help move the football club forward.

I know that there is a squad of players here who are very talented and are capable of being in a better position than where they currently find themselves. I hope whoever comes in can get that out of them in the final ten games of the season.

What I do know is that the commitment from myself to help this club move forward was there and in the morning I can look myself in the face and say that I gave it 100%.

I would like to wish the football club all the very best for the future and thank Chairman Steve Price for giving me the opportunity. I always knew that it was going to be a hard job but he has been super to work with and has done everything within his powers to support me over this time. I’d also like to thank Secretary Terry McMahon for his efforts in working alongside me, he has been very good at his job and has made it as comfortable as possible for myself and I’d like to wish them both the best for the future.

On the backroom staff side of things I know that Chris Millington jumped at the chance to join me at the club and has thoroughly enjoyed his time. His work for me has been brilliant and I know that it was a big decision for ‘Millie’ to join me at that time as he has sacrificed a lot. I’d also like to thank Kyle Patterson for his input which has been really helpful and with him already being at the club beforehand the information which he was able to supply was also useful. Finally Gavin Blackwell our physio, his work in getting players fit for us has been nothing short of professional and I thank him for this.

To the Hednesford supporters as well, I know that things didn’t go to plan in the end, but I tried everything I could to make it work. I worked hard both on and off the pitch to try and improve the performances and results and I would like to wish all the fans all the very best for the future.

Finally, now is the time for you to get behind the team as someone may be able to come in and change things around. It is not an impossible situation that the club finds itself in and it is never over until it is over. Keep giving your backing to the side in the remaining weeks of the season.
