Match Preview: Bradford Park Avenue (H)

Friday 22/04/2016

Hednesford Town will be looking to end their 2015/16 home campaign on a high note when Bradford Park Avenue visit Keys Park.

After earning their first home victory of the year on their last Saturday home game, the team go into this match looking to build on the excellent 2-1 victory over National League North champions Solihull Moors last weekend.

Our game against Bradford earlier in the season saw the Pitmen take a very early lead through Adam Thomas before the home side equalised with just 11 minutes to go through Jason St. Juste.

Keys Park hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Bradford over the years with the Pitmen holding the upper hand with two victories, while the other two matches both ended 1-1, including last season when Marvin Robinson scored after just five minutes.

Caretaker Manager Kyle Patterson said:

“This game against Bradford is one that will be another tough one. They come here having moved into the safety of mid-table but with a young and hungry manager they will certainly have something to prove.

“We know that it will be a physical test for us and I have been speaking to managers in the build-up to try and prepare us in the two training sessions that we have had this week.”

Goalkeeper Dan Crane is expected to be out for the rest of the season due to a calf injury and midfielder Tom Thorley will also be missing due to a troublesome knee problem with Andy Todd still not yet match fit. Other than that, Patterson will have a full squad to choose from.

Midfielder Shelton Payne has departed the club this week after playing 14 games and scoring four times for the Pitmen.

As usual, the match kicks off at 3pm and this game will see the club undertaking a collection beforehand on behalf of The National League for the Bobby Moore Fund.

Finally a reminder that the End of Season Awards will be held in Strikers Bar after the game and we are asking all supporters to come and join us and the team afterwards with proceedings due to start at 5.30pm.
