New Management Team Appointed at Keys Park

Monday 09/05/2016

Hednesford Town are delighted to confirm the appointment of Liam McDonald as their new first team manager.

McDonald, 31, joins the club with immediate effect and will now look to build a squad towards the 2016/17 campaign.

The highly rated manager most recently led Redditch United to a second place finish in the Southern Premier League before narrowly missing out on promotion through the end of season play-offs.

Speaking of his appointment, McDonald said: “I’m excited about the future, having spoken with the club at length it is a challenge that I am up for.

“Hednesford Town are a massive club and I know they had difficulties last season. I know that they have the support base here though and I want them to get behind me and the team.

“The chairman, Steve Price, is realistic as to where the club is at – that has impressed me that he understands the position we are in.

“I know that it is a rebuilding job and it is something that I am looking forward to and excites me very much.”

During his three year stay at Redditch McDonald rebuilt a side that was towards the foot of the table, won the Worcestershire Senior Cup and guided United to a sixth place finish in 2014/15 before finishing as runners-up in the latest campaign.

McDonald will be assisted by Nick Green while his coach David Bridgewater will make up the backroom coaching staff.
