For the second game in succession, Hednesford Town produced a second half comeback as they comfortably saw off Sutton Coldfield Town to move into third place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.
Hednesford once again started a game on top with Gurjit Singh firing narrowly wide of both uprights in the opening 15 minutes, before disaster struck for the home side in the 17th minute.
A lofted ball into the box saw Lloyd Ransome come out of his goal to claim with a call, only for a Pitmen defender to head it past the committed goalkeeper and into the net, despite the best efforts of both players.
The Pitmen didn’t let this deter them though and almost drew level first through George Carline before Jim Mutton saw a back post header clawed away by James Wren after 23 minutes.
Three minutes later Charles Morris fired his effort just wide of the post for Sutton before a free kick into the Town box wasn’t dealt with and it hit the upright on its way behind for a goal kick.
Hednesford were able to draw themselves level two minutes before the break though. After a corner was cleared, the ball was played out to Joel Logan who saw his low cross eventually find its way to Simeon Maye who made no mistake from six yards out.

Two minutes into the second period the home side were in front for the first time. Singh made advances down the left before finding Jamie Matthews and the striker dropped a shoulder to beat two defenders as he confidently put the ball into the net.
The home side were now well on top and after Singh had seen another shot go narrowly wide of the post the Pitmen made it 3-1 in the 56th minute.
A low Logan effort was spilled by Wren and Matthews was quickest to react to pounce and fire the ball into the roof of the net.
Four minutes later and Hednesford extended their lead further. Tom Thorley picked out the lively Matthews who drove to the byline before crossing for Carline to fire home at the back post.
The intensity didn’t let up from the Pitmen and they should have had a fifth goal in the 62nd minute when Cohen Bramall picked out Singh, but his first time effort hit the upright and bounced away to safety.
The scoreline gave manager Liam McDonald chance to introduce Academy players Myles Phipps and Remeao Hutton to the action as the pace of the game slowed.
Ransome was forced into another save late on but it would matter little as the Pitmen extended their unbeaten run to four matches ahead of the visit of Grantham Town to Keys Park on Saturday.
