Duo agree Keys Park deals

Friday 28/07/2017

Hednesford Town Football Club can confirm that manager Neil Tooth has today added two new players to his squad.

We are delighted to welcome both Sam Oji and Jordan Wheatley to Keys Park.

Oji began his career with Birmingham City before playing in the Football League for Doncaster Rovers, Bristol Rovers, Leyton Orient and Hereford United. He later played in the Swedish Superettan for Ljungskile SK, before returning to England to play for Tamworth in the Conference National and most recently Worcester City.

Manager Neil Tooth said; “Sam has been in with us for a few weeks now but because of a small niggle he has not been able to play but he is now fully fit and we are delighted to be able to announce his signing.

“Sam joins from Worcester City and is a dominant centre half who has played pro football for the majority of his career, he also brings a wealth of experience to our squad and that was key when getting the deal done.”

The Pitmen have also moved to bring in former Nuneaton Town man Wheatley after he impressed during pre-season.

Tooth added; “Jordan came in on trial and his performances have left me no option but to sign him. His versatility means he can slot in at right back, centre back or in centre mid and I’m looking forward to seeing him progress.

“I still have a decision to make on two other lads who have come in on trial and done very well.

“The aim is to have a squad of 19/20 to get us through the first six weeks of the season and that means there are some tough calls to be made over the next two weeks.”

Meanwhile Desean Martin, J’Cee Abrahams, Ryan Nesbitt and Jake Webb have all gone out on loan/dual registration but they are all still very much in the manager’s long term plans.
