Heath Hayes 2-5 Hednesford Town

Sunday 09/07/2017

Hednesford Town recorded their first victory of pre-season following this convincing triumph against a determined Heath Hayes side.

Manager Neil Tooth gave a number of players their first starts, including three trialists, as he looks to finalise his squad ahead of the start of the new season.

After a steady opening the Pitmen struck first in the 21st minute when Jordan Nadat excellently fired home from the edge of the box. Eleven minutes later striker Nadat doubled his tally and Town’s lead with another smart finish.

Things got better for Hednesford in the 35th minute when Ryan Wynter added a third goal for the visitors from 18 yards to see them head into half-time with a convincing lead.

HT: 0-3

Tooth made a total of six changes during the break but it was the home side that struck next when Jack Weldon pulled a goal back in the 61st minute after the ball had hit the post.

The three goal advantage was soon extended again though in the 76th minute when James Lawrie scored a great individual goal. Three minutes later Danny Glover bagged his second goal of pre-season as the Pitmen made it 5-1.

Heath Hayes didn’t give up though and they scored again in the 89th minute through Regan Smith.

The Pitmen now have a week of training ahead before travelling to Sutton Coldfield to take on Romulus next Saturday.
