FAWPL Finals Day a great success

Monday 16/04/2018

Hednesford Town FC successfully hosted the FAWPL Finals Day on Sunday 15th August 2018, thanks to the efforts of a whole host of people who we would wish to thank for making the day a great success. Without this group of club stalwarts it would simply not have been possible to put on two prestigious Cup Finals in one day.
On the field Stoke City Ladies FC beat Portsmouth Ladies FC 1-0, with a late second half goal in the FAWPL Reserve Cup Final. The 3.00pm kick off FAWPL Plate Final was won comfortably 5-0 by a rampant West Ham United Ladies FC team against a brave Luton Town Ladies FC side.
I would like to thank David and Val Bates, Carol Johnson, Terry and Janet Carpenter, Tim Elsmore, John Taylor, Stuart Hipkiss, Maria MorganĀ  (and ‘chef’), Dorinda Gibbons, Charlie Ward and the Stewards team, Hednesford Town Girls FC’s ballgirls and last but not least my other half, Catherine McMahon, for making the day a great success.
Thanks too, to Sunflex Ltd. for allowing supplementary parking on their site which was a great help.
Finally, thanks to Nick Frith and his colleagues from the Football Association for some very slick event management on the day.
It was also very pleasing to have our local MP, Amanda Milling, come along to the afternoon game, fitting it in to her very busy current schedule.
Great job everyone, thank you.
