Hednesford Town v Mossley

Friday 16/02/2024

Some 15 days since their last league game Hednesford return to Northern Premier League West Division action on Saturday 17th February when Mossley visit Keys Park. The teams have already met this season when a fourth minute goal from Oumar Camara was enough to give Mossley all three points at Seel Park. Camara has recently moved on to North West Counties side Chadderton Town but is still the club’s leading scorer with eight goals in all competitions. Second in the scoring chart is Jack Banister with six while fellow striker Eden Bailey this week signed for Clitheroe. Mossley have won just one game in their last six and that was last Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Chasetown thanks to a brace of penalties from midfielder Will Shepherd. The current form table shows Mossley in 17th place with five points from six games while Hednesford are in 10th with eight from six. The league table has them in 15th with 33 points from 26 games, ten points clear of The Pitmen. Of those 33 points 21 have come at home and 12 away. On their travels they have won just three games, 3-1 at 1874 Northwich, 3-0 at Vauxhall Motors and 2-0 at Hanley, drawn three and lost seven including defeats at Clitheroe (3-6), City of Liverpool (1-4) and Prescot Cables (3-5).

Following the recent departures of Ryan Boothe to Halesowen Town, Ritchie Sutton, Demitri Brown and Kaden May, manager Harry Harris has moved quickly to bolster his squad. Joining from Chorley is former Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso who has 377 Football League appearances to his name, scoring 48 goals. Joining him up front is free agent Jake Jervis who started his career at Birmingham City and had a successful spell at Plymouth Argyle scoring 27 goals in 108 games. He has also played in Finland, India and Turkey and started the season at Brackley Town. Centre back Mike McGrath joins after a 13-month stint as Player-Manager at Bromsgrove Sporting. He has played for a number of clubs including Kettering, Hereford and Evesham. More signings are expected to be announced on Friday.

Gates and turnstiles open at 1pm on Saturday for a 3pm kick off. Usual admission prices apply, £11 adults, £8 concessions, £3 under 16s and car parking at £3 with the multi award winning programme costing £2.50.
