Friday 23/02/2024

On Saturday 24th February Hednesford head up to Halton for their latest Northern Premier League West game where they will face Runcorn Linnets. Runcorn are in second place in the league table with 49 points from 27 games, nine behind leaders Leek Town who they will visit on March 2nd . Their home record is slightly better than their away
form, winning eight, drawing two and losing three- Chasetown (1-2), Hanley (0-1) and City of Liverpool (1-2), scoring 24 goals and conceding 10. They have failed to score at home on only two occasions, the defeat to Hanley and a 0-0 draw with Trafford. Their leading scorers are Oliver Malloy with 13 goals (11 league and two in the County Cups) and Will Saxon with nine (seven league and two in the FA Cup). Recent form sees Runcorn picking up 13 points from their last six games compared to Hednesford’s five from six. The first meeting this season between the two clubs back in
October at Keys Park saw two goals in the space of four minutes from Adam Moseley (72 minutes) for the Linnets and Danny Glover (76 minutes) for the Pitmen which ensured the game ended all square in front of a crowd of 730.

New signings Jake Jervis and Blaine Rowe will be available for Hednesford after missing the defeat against Mossley as will Ryan Brown, Nathan Delfouneso and Mike McGrath who was in interim charge of the team on Tuesday night when Romulus were knocked out of the Birmingham Senior Cup thanks to a Joe Thompson hat-trick. Lucas Yeomans is still missing after undergoing surgery.

The game will be the first in the dugout for Paul Moore who was appointed as Head Coach on Thursday. He has a wealth of managerial experience at clubs including Leek Town, Warrington Town, Clitheroe, Colwyn Bay, Northwich Victoria and Newcastle Town. He will be joined by Martin Hunter and Paul McKiernan while Adam Paget remains as Sports Therapist.

Runcorn Linnets play at APEC Taxis Stadium, Stockham Lane, Murdishaw, Runcorn, Cheshire WA7 6GS. The ground has a 1600 capacity and a hybrid grass pitch. Admission will be £10 adults, £7 concessions and £2 under 18s. A free digital programme will be available via a link on the club’s website on the day of the game. The game kicks off at 3pm.
