On Tuesday 13th August Hednesford Town make the short journey up the M6 to Nantwich Town where they will play their second Northern Premier League West Division game of the season.
Nantwich have not made the start to the season that they would have wanted, bowing out of the FA Cup in the extra preliminary round 1-2 to NPL East Division side Sheffield and then losing 0-2 at last season’s play-off semi-finalists Bootle on Saturday.
Last season’s games between the two sides saw 12 goals shared. The Pitmen beating The Dabbers 3-2 at Keys Park on Boxing Day, an injury time Tom Thorley penalty securing all three points while on April Fools Day Nantwich had Troy Bourne to thank for his 96th minute winner in a 4-3 victory.
Both sides will show some changes from the teams that lined up on that day. Nantwich have brought in James Melhado, a full-back from Truro, midfielder Tom Reilly from Leek, defender Cole Lonsdale from Ashton United, Bolton Wanderers academy product Matt Tweedley, attacking midfielder Tom Pratt from Guiseley and former Litherland REMYCA captain Paddy Kennedy while defender Kelvin Mellor has returned to the club for a second spell. Only Ryan Brown, Josh Endall, Jake Jervis and Matthew Barnes-Homer remain from the Hednesford squad.
Rob Stevenson should return to the Hednesford squad with only long-term injury absentee Josh Endall and the unavailable Jacob Gwilt missing although Simeon Maye and Dominic McHale could be doubts after limping out of Saturday’s 3-2 win over Vauxhall Motors.
Nantwich play at The Swansway Stadium, Waterlode, Nantwich, Cheshire CW5 5BS which is situated off Chester Road. It has a capacity of 2,640 (343 seated) and was first opened in 2007 when it was known as the Weaver Stadium. The club installed a 3G artificial surface at the ground in time for the start of last season.
Admission is £11 Adults, £8 over 60s and £3 U16s if purchased online via the Nantwich website. Cash/card at the gate although last season this option incurred an extra charge.
Kick off is at 7.45pm.
