Pitmen Non-League Day Celebration A Success

Monday 15/10/2012

Hednesford Town Football Club joined teams from across the country in celebrating Non-League Day on Saturday where, despite a 2-1 defeat, a crowd of almost five hundred enjoyed the football on offer at Keys Park.

Cannock based dance troupe, ‘Epic Dance’, performed before the game with mascot Pitman Pete making an appearance to entertain the families who had taken advantage of Hednesford’s ‘Adult and Child for a Tenner’ promotion.

St Peters Primary School Year 4 football team took part in a penalty shoot out on the pitch at half time, cheered on by supporters in the main stand, where Pitman Pete also faced penalties from the young footballers.

Supporters Association Joint-Chairman, Scott Smith, stated that the day was a success and will hopefully lead to more families and younger fans joining the ranks of Pitmen supporters at Keys Park.

‘The day went really well and we would like to thank the two groups of children involved but also the volunteers from the SA who formed a welcoming committee outside of the Stadium and the people who helped organise the day. Despite the result, we hope some of the children who attended might catch the non-league football bug and return regularly to Keys Park in the future.’
