Smith Says “Pitmen Away Support Vital Again”

Friday 08/02/2013

Hednesford Town boss Rob Smith has enthused about the nature of his Club’s away support, once again expected to travel in their usual high numbers to eighth place Ashton United, as The Pitmen look for their tenth win on the road this season on Saturday afternoon.

The Keys Park outfit, currently second in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division, have had some notable victories in the backyards of their rivals this season, including beating Stafford Rangers at Marston Road for the second year in succession, ending North Ferriby’s unbeaten home record with an astonishing 3-2 comeback and most recently, a 4-0 shellacking of fourth placed Worksop Town.

Hednesford boss Smith puts those wins partially down to the vociferous support from the supporters and has rallied them to continue following their team as the title race hots up.

‘It will be great to see the fans travelling in numbers again on Saturday. We are getting towards the business end of the season now and we need as much backing as possible. The support during the big away games this season has been superb and the players really react to it.’

Any supporters interested in joining those fans travelling to Lancashire on Saturday are encouraged to contact Ken Leese of the Independent Travel Club on 07935 723290.
