Match Preview: AFC Fylde (A)

Friday 22/03/2013

The Hednesford Town faithful will be crossing their fingers and hoping that the atrocious weather in the Midlands and North of England abates over the next 24 hours as The Pitmen plan to travel to Lancashire to face in-form AFC Fylde.

The Coasters have won nine of their last ten matches, their only defeat coming against Hednesford three weeks ago, but Rob Smith’s side will be hoping the game is on as the annual non-league fixture pile up increases to ever more difficult levels.

Should the game go ahead, which at this stage is doubtful, Hednesford will welcome back key performer Jamey Osborne from suspension and Kyle Patterson will now be eligible to play after being cup-tied for his team’s hard fought victory against Coventry Sphinx in the Birmingham Senior Cup Semi-Final on Monday night.

Alex Melbourne was stretchered off with a nasty ankle injury at Coventry and will be out for at least 4-6 weeks, but the booking Dave MacPherson picked up late in the game, triggering a two match suspension, won’t start until next week so the tough tackling midfielder will be available for selection.

Following their 3-2 defeat to league leaders North Ferriby, The Pitmen go into a game which is undoubtedly their toughest remaining away fixture, acutely aware that with The Villagers’ ominous form ahead of them, a win would be massive.
