Hednesford Town 4-0 Eastwood Town

Wednesday 17/07/2013

Hednesford Town’s third pre-season friendly of their campaign, once again played in balmy summer conditions, saw The Pitmen comfortably sweep aside lower league opponents, Eastwood Town, to give their supporters further cause for optimism as the spine of their playoff winning side showed real class.

The Keys Park outfit’s first half performance was a joy to behold as the direct running and one touch skill of Jamey Osborne, Elliott Durrell and Kris Taylor supplied ample ammunition to the lively front two of Neil Harvey and Aaron Rey.

In truth, Eastwood really struggled to contain the five-pronged attack and it was Osborne who opened the scoring with a stunning long range shot on 17 minutes and three minutes later Dave MacPherson powered in a headed rebound after Ben Bailey had hit the bar from a well placed Durrell corner.

Taylor tested Alex Malony from distance with a fizzing low shot as The Pitmen waltzed through an overrun Eastwood midfield before Kieran Wells headed over when well placed for the visitors’ best opportunity on 39 minutes.

Nathan Woolfe curled in a sumptuous third goal with 15 minutes to go and a comprehensive win was rounded off by youngster David Ojapah as he coolly lobbed Malony after a poor defensive header sent him clean through.

The Pitmen continue their pre-season preparations on Saturday when they welcome Redditch United to Keys Park as confidence continues to flow through the Hednesford ranks.
