Match Preview: Leamington (A)

Friday 27/11/2015

Thoughts on the league campaign can be put to one side this weekend for the Pitmen as the FA Trophy takes precedence with a trip to Leamington on the cards.

It will mean a quick reunion with the Brakes who suffered relegation from the National League North last season after two campaigns at this level.

They have started well in their quest to make an immediate return though and currently sit in second place in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier League.

After the Brakes made progress in the week against Rushall Olympic, we go into this game knowing that it won’t be an easy one as we have failed to defeat Leamington in our last three games – despite holding somewhat of hoodoo over them in earlier meetings.

Manager Bernard McNally said:

“We are hoping that we can replicate the kind of form we have put in recently and score a few more goals at the other end.

“We know it will be a tough game for us though and we have to be wary of the threat that they have.”

Speaking of our new signing Jack Dyer, who made his debut against Bradford Park Avenue last weekend he added:

“Jack hadn’t played for a few weeks so he is going to take a game or two to get his match sharpness back, but he did well last weekend and we were pleased with his contribution.”

The Pitmen will once again be without Tom Thorley, who is making good progress following knee surgery, while Adam Thomas is expected to be available after missing training in midweek with an ankle sprain.
