Match Preview: Frickley Athletic (H)

Friday 09/09/2016

Attentions turn back to the league campaign this weekend with Frickley Athletic set to visit Keys Park on Saturday.

The Pitmen will be looking to get back to winning ways on their own patch after being denied in stoppage time two weeks ago before last weekend’s FA Cup disappointment against Belper Town.

Manager Liam McDonald is looking to move forward though but has warned his squad to be wary of a Frickley side that are still searching for their first victory this season.

He said:

“We know that this will be another tough game for us despite our visitors’ current league position. They have a new manager in place and by all accounts, from the reports that I have received, they played well against Blyth Spartans last weekend in the FA Cup.

“As is to be expected when a new manager comes in, players always seem to give them extra and we will be taking this game like any other.

“We know that they are a decent side on paper and I fully expect it to be another tough one for us.”

The manager is set to be able to call on the services of striker Jamie Matthews for the game after he completed his three match suspension last weekend.

On the injury front, Joel Logan has a slight niggle which is expected to clear in time while Tristian Dunkley will miss the fixture as he is given chance to fully recover from a hamstring injury picked up in the opening week of the season.

The game kicks off at the usual time of 3pm with Strikers Bar being open before and after the fixture.
