Match Preview: Uttoxeter Town (H)

Tuesday 06/12/2016

Hednesford Town return home this evening as they face Uttoxeter Town in the Staffordshire Senior Cup, with a 7.45pm kick-off at Keys Park.

This is the first ever meeting between the two sides, with Uttoxeter playing in the Midland Football League Division One.
Their last result saw them beat Heath Hayes 3-1 on Saturday.

The Pitmen will be without defender Gavin Caines for the game, with him having signed past the 3.00pm deadline last Friday to allow him to play in this competition.

Another new face that can also now be confirmed is 18-year-old attacking winger Montel Gibson – who has arrived on a month’s loan from Notts County. Sadly though, like Caines, he wasn’t signed in time to take part in this evening’s game.

Manager Paul Casey is hoping that his side can build on Saturday’s victory over Workington AFC as they look to make cup progression in a competition that the Pitmen won in 2013.

He said:

“We will be freshening things up with the team tonight as we had a lot of lads travel up to Workington on Saturday that didn’t play – which I know is disappointing for them.

“However, due to the nature of the competition rules, we can’t play a couple of the lads as they weren’t signed in time for the game.

“This team is a good football team, we went away on Saturday and did a professional job and I expect the same again.”

The manager is set to be without Danny Glover (hamstring), Simeon Maye (ankle) and Lewis Wright (knee) all due to injuries, while Lloyd Ransome (shoulder), Jim Mutton (foot) and Jamie Matthews (back and dead leg) will all face late fitness tests to see if they can take part in the game this evening.
