Preston Joins Pitmen On Loan

Friday 13/01/2017

Hednesford Town manager Paul Casey has moved to bolster his defensive backline with the signing of defender Dan Preston on a month’s loan from AFC Telford United.

The experienced defender began his career with Birmingham City, for whom he made one appearance, before spending two separate loan spells with Hereford United.

Preston, 25, first signed for AFC Telford United in the summer of 2011, going on to make over 70 appearances for the Bucks, helping them back to the National League in May 2014.

In the summer of 2014 he made the switch to Tamworth, becoming club captain during a two year stay at the Lamb before linking back up with Telford last summer.

After starting the season in the Bucks team he has recently spent time on loan at Sutton Coldfield Town and Leamington.

Paul Casey said:

“Dan is a very good defender and has a vast experience of playing at a higher level with both AFC Telford United and Tamworth.

“We are delighted to be able to bring him to Keys Park and hopefully he can make a real difference to our backline, with him having just spent the last couple of months playing at this level of football.”

Preston has been registered in time to make his debut in Saturday’s Evo-Stik Northern Premier League game against Buxton.
