Match Preview: Buxton (A)

Tuesday 14/02/2017

The Pitmen make the trip to Buxton this evening looking to play their first midweek fixture of 2017. This comes after previous attempts in both league and cup fell foul to bad weather – although the Derbyshire side have said that there are no concerns over tonight’s game.

Following last weekend’s trip to Blyth Spartans, the Pitmen face another tough test this evening as they travel to meet a Buxton side that are on the fringes of the play-offs.

After topping the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League table at the start of the year things have been a bit mixed in recent weeks, although they did return to winning ways at Stafford Rangers in their last outing.

The last meeting between the two sides came back at the start of October which saw the Pitmen having to play for more than an hour with ten men following a controversial red card decision which ultimately changed the course of the game.

We have a mixed record when visiting the Silverlands, with us having recorded five victories and four defeats in the nine games between the two sides.

Although he continues to play a more active role in training, Lewis Wright (knee) will miss the game along with Gavin Hurren (hamstring) while David McDermott (knee) will face late fitness tests to see if he will be involved.

The game kicks off at the usual time of 7.45pm and we hope that you can make the trip to support the Pitmen.
