Match Preview: Stourbridge (H)

Monday 03/04/2017

The Pitmen return home this evening as they play the first of three Evo-Stik Northern Premier League games in the space of six days at Keys Park, when Stourbridge visit.

This game should have originally taken place right at the end of 2016 but due to the inclement weather that was around at that time it led to the fixture being postponed.

Our visitors this evening are currently in the hunt for promotion with them sitting in the play-off places as we both prepare for the final run-in. It is perhaps their FA Cup exploits which gained most coverage this season though, with them having reached the Third Round.

We go into the fixture looking to complete a league double over the Glassboys, having defeated them 2-1 in stoppage time all the way back in August of 2016.

Manager Gary Birch and his team will go into the fixture full of confidence, having recorded back-to-back victories in the last week over Ilkeston and Mickleover Sports.

Stuart McNaught (calf and hip) and Tom Thorley (hip and back) will both face late fitness tests to see if they can be part of the squad for the game. George Washbourne will return though, having been rested for the weekend victory over Mickleover due to injury. Jordan Fitzpatrick (hamstring) is unlikely to be available for selection.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm and Strikers Bar will be open to all supporters both before and after the match.
