The Pitmen return to pre-season action this weekend with the very short journey to Heath Hayes.
After a mixed start to the summer pre-season campaign, Neil Tooth’s side will be looking to get things back on track on Saturday.
Over the years Heath Hayes have always proved to be a tricky test for the Pitmen and this weekend’s game will no doubt prove no different.
Tooth was looking to once again use the game as a build-up to the start of the new campaign. He said:
“Players have certainly changed when it comes to pre-season, since my time playing. People used to come back about a stone or two heavier following the break, but that doesn’t happen now.
“What we have to make sure is that the lads aren’t doing too much too soon, it is all about doing it within your limits. The last week has been a chance for us to do some good different sessions. We’ve had a fitness instructor in to take the lads through various routines.
“It can also be difficult though as at the same time so many are either away or coming back from holiday and you never really have the full squad of players until the last couple of weeks.”
The game kicks off at 3pm on Saturday and we hope to see as many Pitmen supporters in attendance as possible.
