Match Preview: Boston Town (A)

Friday 01/09/2017

Hednesford Town begin their Emirates FA Cup campaign this weekend with a trip to Boston Town in the first qualifying round.

The Pitmen were handed the away tie just under two weeks ago after Boston progressed through two rounds of the competition, defeating Evo-Stik side Carlton Town at home in the last round.

Boston play in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League with them having played just twice in the league this season due to their FA Cup exploits, losing one and drawing one with both games being at home.

Pitmen manager Neil Tooth goes into the game looking for his side to continue where they left off on Monday afternoon.

He said:

“It was a big win for us against Stafford, and obviously everyone was delighted with it. I must admit it wasn’t that enjoyable to be part of due to the tension of only being able to watch on from the sideline. Overall though I felt as if we deserved the three points, it was a great feeling to be able to get that victory and makes the start of the season a lot more respectable.

“I went to watch Boston on Tuesday evening so we know what we are going into on Saturday as you always want to be prepared. It is a long away day but it is always nice to be involved in the FA Cup with the added bonus of picking up some prize money if you progress.

“This is where you have got to be professional and go into the game fully prepared – which we will be. One thing we know for sure is that it won’t be easy.”

We hope that you can join us for the game which kicks off at 3pm. Should a replay be required then this will take place at Keys Park on Tuesday 5th September, 7.45pm kick-off.
