Workington AFC (A)

The Pitmen return to action tomorrow with a long trip north as they look to get back to winning ways on the road at Workington AFC.

Our hosts on Saturday have enjoyed a mixed start to the campaign but they did record an impressive victory over Altrincham in the week.

Last season saw the Pitmen triumph 2-0 on the road in one of their better away performance of the campaign.

After Tuesday’s setback against Coalville Town, Rob Smith was looking for an improved performance from his side.

He said:

“Tuesday was a very disappointing night; but it’s fair to say I learnt a lot more on Tuesday than I did in the game against Sutton Coldfield. It’s clear that we need to bring in some fresh blood, and we will be working tirelessly to do just that, but only if they are the right personnel. The challenge for the current crop is to take on board what we say and improve quickly.

“From all the reports we have had, Workington are an excellent outfit so we again have a massive challenge ahead.

“My message to fans is that things may take time to improve, but improve they will, as we will leave no stone unturned.”

The game kicks off at the usual time of 3pm and we thank those fans who are making the trip north.
