The Pitmen return home this evening as our attention turns towards the Integro League Cup when Newcastle Town visit Keys Park.
After progressing with a convincing 2-0 victory over Rushall Olympic in the last round we shall be looking to keep our run going tonight against a Newcastle Town side who play at the level below us.
Newcastle made it through to this round of the competition by defeating Market Drayton Town 3-1 and last played at Keys Park in September 2010 when they claimed a memorable FA Cup victory.
The tie must be decided on the night and if the scores are level after 90 minutes then instead of extra-time, a penalty shoot-out will decide who advances into the next round. The 2017-18 winners and runners-up will once again collect £2,000 and £1,000 in prize money respectively. Losing quarter-finalists will collect £250, while the losing semi-finalists will bank £500 each as sponsors Integro continue their long-running support for the Evo-Stik League’s showpiece cup competition.
Manager Rob Smith is waiting to see if Jim Mutton, Tom Thorley and Alfie Crooks are now fit after the trio missed out recently with injuries while Edji Mbunga is also continuing to build his fitness after missing a number of games. James Fitzgibbon will be miss out through injury though.
He will also be without Darren Campion and James Lawrie who both sit out tonight due to one game suspensions while the loan deals of Reece King and Adriel George have both come to an end.
The game kicks off at the usual midweek time of 7.45pm and Strikers Bar will be open to all supporters both before and after the match.
We’re also pleased to confirm that after taking in supporters’ feedback from the last round our prices for tomorrow’s League Cup tie against Newcastle will be:
