Match Preview: Marine (A)

Friday 09/03/2018

Hednesford Town prepare to return to action tomorrow after an enforced break due to the inclement weather which struck the UK recently.

On Saturday we will hopefully make the trip up to the North West as we prepare to take on Marine for the first time this season. Strangely enough the reverse fixture will take place at Keys Park next weekend when Marine visit us.

Marine have experienced a mixed season so far, stuttering in the league but then enjoying an extended run in the FA Trophy. The Mariners have a somewhat mixed record at home, winning just three of their 16 league games on their own pitch – suffering ten defeats in the process.

Despite Marine’s lowly position manager Rob Smith was expecting another tricky encounter on Saturday:

“Like we found out at Stalybridge the other week, Marine are another side who have potential to cause us problems – especially with both teams needing the points for differing reasons.

“After an enforced break from action the whole team are looking forward to getting back out onto the pitch and hopefully picking up the three points after the disappointment of our last game against Warrington.”

The manager is without Joe Fitzpatrick who begins a suspension following his sending off against Warrington while James Fitzgibbon will face a late fitness test due to an injury to his back.

NOTE: We have also been informed that there will be a 10.15am pitch inspection to see if the game can go ahead as planned with heavy showers expected over the course of the next 12 hours. News of that will be published ASAP tomorrow morning.
