Alvechurch v Hednesford Town

Friday 20/08/2021

The Pitmen make the journey to Alvechurch on Saturday in a quest to maintain their winning start to the season. Last Saturday’s win against Needham Market at Keys Park was quickly followed up by the 2-1 win at Stourbridge on Monday night. Pitmen manager, Keenen Meakin-Richards hailed the performances so far as professional, stressing that; “We will remain humble, tomorrow we start again with a clean slate and we will work for each game as it comes.”

Courtney Richards is doubtful after a hamstring injury in training on Thursday, Jed Davies is still three to four weeks away from fitness, Callam Mendez-Jones needs another week to recover while Sam Griffiths also misses out this weekend. Meanwhile Hednesford Town scholar Joe Morley, after featuring pre-season, has signed with the club and goes straight into the first team squad tomorrow.

The Church recorded an impressive 3-0 against Bromsgrove Sporting at Lye Meadow on Tuesday with goals from Charlie Dowd and a brace from Daniel Waldron, following a 1-0 defeat at St. Ives on the opening day of the season.
