Hednesford Town v Needham Market

Wednesday 19/04/2023

On the unusual matchday of a Thursday night, Hednesford will complete their home fixtures in a disappointing 2022/23 season with the visit of Needham Market.

On Saturday The Pitmen extended their unbeaten home run to five games and will be looking to end their Keys Park campaign on a high, knowing that a win will move them a place up the league table. The visitors secured their Step 3 status with a 3-2 victory over Basford last Saturday and make the journey to Staffordshire on the back of a 1-0 win against Leiston in the semi-final of the Suffolk Premier Cup on Tuesday.

The Marketmen finish their season next Saturday with a trip to Barwell and so far their 19 away games have produced just three wins at Tamworth (who they did the double over), Bedford and Kings Langley to go with six draws and 10 defeats. They have scored 15 goals on their travels and conceded 25 to give a points total of 15 compared to the 33 points they’ve picked up from their 21 home games.

The two teams have met five times previously with Hednesford’s only win coming on the opening day of the 2021/22 season, a 2-1 victory at Keys Park which was followed by a 3-3 draw at Bloomfields later in the season. Needham Market have won the other three encounters.

Kick off will be at the usual midweek time of 7.45pm with gates and bars open at 6pm. Admission is £12 adults, £9 concessions, £5 U16s (with a supervising paying adult) and U5s free (again if accompanied by a paying adult). A family ticket for one adult and one U16 is £15.
