Hednesford Town are pleased to announce that defender Sam Griffiths has agreed a deal to return to Keys Park as Danny Glover’s captain ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Versatile defender Griffiths, 31, started out his career at Wolves coming through the academy before moving to Brentford in 2011. He went out on loan to Carshalton Athletic before joining Braintree. Bilston born Griff then returned to the Midlands joining our near neighbours Stafford Rangers before crossing the Chase to join the Pitmen in 2018. Following a long injury Griff departed the club in late 2021  to join Shifnal Town where he spent the last 2 years at the Shropshire club.

Manager Danny Glover said “ Sam is a player I know well and he is a fantastic defender with a lot of experience. I also need a leader in the dressing room who knows both sides of the game how to mix it up when it gets rough but also knows how to get it down and play, Sam fits this bill and I’m really pleased he has agreed to join us and take the armband”.
