Widnes v Hednesford Town

Friday 25/08/2023

On Saturday 26th August Hednesford will make their first ever visit to Widnes for their next Northern Premier League West Division game.

Hednesford have won one, drawn one and lost one of their three league games so far which sees them in 10th place in the league table while their opponents have one win and two defeats and lie in 14th spot. Their win came in their first home game, a 2-0 victory over Bootle. Matt Van Wyk scored both goals which are their only league goals so far. Last season Widnes finished in 17th , only avoiding the Step 4/5 Inter-League Play-offs due to Skelmersdale not meeting ground grading requirements and their superior points per game ratio compared to other teams around the country.

Widnes are a relatively new club, being founded in 2003 as Dragons AFC, later to be known as Widnes Dragons before agreeing to become part of the Widnes Vikings Group in 2012. They play their home games at the DCBL Stadium, Lowerhouse Lane, Widnes, Cheshire WA8 7DZ which is also used by the Rugby League team. All supporters when watching the Football club will be seated within the South Stand.

Admission prices are £10 adults, £7 concessions (Over 65, full time students aged 16 or over) and £2 under 18s and entry is via turnstiles SE1 and SE2. Legends Bar opens at 12 noon and is accessed via the Stadium Fitness entrance on Lowerhouse Lane and there is also a concourse bar situated under the South Stand. Kick off is at 3pm.
