Update from Chairman Hayden Dando

Thursday 14/09/2023

”Hello Everyone, With the season a few weeks in i wanted to provide everyone with a bit of an update in regards to the season so far both on and off the pitch. Firstly i want to say a massive thank you to you all for the support you have given to the club since the beginning of pre season, from our first game back where we faced Rushall on a tuesday night and over 700 were there through to having just short of 1500 at Keys Park for the derby game with Chasetown i cannot thank you all enough, when i took over in the summer i asked for you all to get behind your club and the community has certainly done that. This is massive to the club for 2 reasons – firstly for the clubs short term future as i said before i cannot afford to financially prop the club up i needed us to do it together and you have certainly done your part, however perhaps the second reason is the more overlooked but equally as important which is that as we search for a new owner for the club it is a huge selling point that demonstrates the potential for the club as well as the passion that exists for it within the local community, believe me when i say that for anybody looking to get involved in non league football that is a huge thing so i ask that you continue to provide the support you have been in order for us to continue to show hednesford towns undoubted potential.”

“We have done a lot of work in bringing in new revenues for the club both for now and for the future with a revamp of our commercial department that has already seen some excellent results such as the number of sponsors now involved with the club, different types of social interactions with players/supporters including the recent success of selling seats on the official coach for Witton Albion which both players and supporters enjoyed as well as exploring different revenue streams that whilst they won’t benefit the club today they will be of huge benefit once we find the person to take the club over. There will be more to come on the commercial side of the club over the next few weeks.”

“On the pitch we have had a tough start to the season of course but given how difficult the summer was for the club that was perhaps to be expected as we basically had to rebuild the entire first team squad. As most of you know i live out in Spain but i am lucky enough to have made arrangements to be able to watch every game so i have seen every minute of every game right back to the first game of pre season and i felt that with the exception of a couple of poor performances we have been competitive in most games and on several occasions having lost or drawn i felt we deserved more. Danny Glover and Dan Crane deserve huge amounts of respect from the club for the rebuilding job they undertook during the summer given that whilst we were sorting our future out as a football club many of our competitors were already out signing players, combined with the fact that the budget isn’t a Hednesford Town of old budget of course they have got in some real good lads and some very good players. In no way am i sugarcoating results as we all know that’s what matters however we also have to take a realistic and balanced view in that some people will have expected this league to be a walk on the park and it’s far from that, there are some very good and well financed sides in the division and the name Hednesford Town will always be a scalp for clubs so we have to up our game. I am aware that Gloves spoke about stability being key however he and Dan are always looking at ways to improve the side so i ask that supporters are patient and continue to back the lads as they have all season, the one thing this club needs and craves above all is stability”.

“This football club had a very unique opportunity in the summer to reinvent itself and its identity without having to be a phoenix club etc and to rebuild it together, we are certainly doing this however we are only at the start of the journey, we are still looking for the right person to come in and take over the club, we have had preliminary discussions with parties however as of yet nothing further than that so i will reiterate that the footballing side of the club remains available for the nominal fee of £1 to the right person who has the capability and finance to do the role of custodian of this great club justice. I personally am incredibly proud to be the chairman of this club however i want the very best for the club and believe that the potential of Hednesford Town Football Club dictates that we need an owner who has the financial capability to return this club to what i believe is it’s rightful place further up the non league pyramid as well as to ensure a bright and sustainable future for the club.”

“In the meantime all i can ask that you continue to support the club as you have done all season and to continue to rebuild this together for the future”
