Hednesford Town v Clitheroe

Thursday 23/11/2023

On Saturday 25th November Clitheroe will make their first ever visit to Keys Park for a Pitching-In NPL West game.
Clitheroe are currently in sixth place in the table with 24 points from 15 games after dropping out of the play-off places following Avro’s midweek win at Newcastle Town. They have played seven away games, losing the last two 0-2 at Hanley town and 1-2 at Vauxhall motors but before that had won three against Witton Albion (2-1), Prescot Cables (2-0) and Nantwich Town (2-1) with draws at Chasetown (3-3) and Trafford (1-1). At home they have won four, drawn one and lost three.

Clitheroe’s leading scorer is Sefton Gonzales. The much travelled 31-year-old striker is in his third spell with the club and has also turned out for Stockport County (twice), Chorley, Colne (twice), Stalybridge Celtic, Altrincham, FC United, Droylsden, South Shields, Matlock, Bamber Bridge and Ramsbottom and has eight league goals plus one in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy to his name this season. He is followed by John McGrath who has eight goals in total, four in the league and another four in the FA Cup. He signed from City of Liverpool at the end of last season and helped Clitheroe to the play-off semi-final where after finishing in fourth place they lost to Workington.

Hednesford will go into the game in confident mood after last Saturday’s 3-1 win at Bootle thanks to Joe Morley’s hat-trick and will look to build on improved results since Harry Harris’ appointment.  As usual the game will kick off at 3pm on Saturday with turnstiles and bars open at 1pm.

Admission is £11 adults, £8 concessions and £3 under 16s. Car parking is £3 with the award winning programme costing £2.50.
