Thursday 07/12/2023

On Saturday 9th December Hednesford begin a run of games which will see them at Keys Park for three of their next four Northern Premier League West Division matches. Saturday sees the visit of 1874 Northwich, another club The Pitmen have never played before with both teams knowing that a win could move them away from the relegation places. 1874 Northwich are in 18th place, two places and three points above Hednesford but with an inferior goal difference.

1874’s home and away form is almost identical with their 14 points split evenly between the two. On the road they’ve picked up wins at Newcastle Town (1-0) and City of Liverpool (2-1) with a goalless draw at Stalybridge Celtic and defeats against Prescot Cables (0-1), Hanley (2-4), Leek (1-4) and Clitheroe (0-4). Current form sees them at the bottom of the table with here points from their last six games and a goal difference of -12. Leading scorers are Lucas Weir who has three league goals and another in the Cheshire Senior Cup and Fenton Green who scored three league goals before his
transfer to Leek Town.

Early November saw the departure of 1874’s joint managers Paul Bowyer and Wayne Goodison after six years and almost 300 games in charge. They were replaced earlier this week by Damian Crossley who has been assistant-manager at Buxton, Curzon Ashton and Colne and first team coach at Warrington Rylands. Saturday’s game will be his first at the helm at Northwich.

Admission is £11 adults, £8 concessions, £3 U16s with car parking at £3 and the award-winning programme available at £2.50. Turnstiles and bars open at 1pm with kick off at 3pm.
