Hednesford Town v Vauxhall Motors

Sunday 17/03/2024

On Tuesday 19th March Hednesford who are in 19th place in the Northern Premier League West Division table entertain Vauxhall Motors who are two places above them but with the cushion of an eight-point lead over The Pitmen. Both teams are short of form and have won only two league games each in 2024, Hednesford beating Widnes 3-0 on 6th January and 1874 Northwich 1-0 three days ago while Vauxhall beat 1874 Northwich on 24th February
and Stalybridge Celtic last weekend, both by scores of 3-1. A win for Hednesford would see them move within two points of 18th placed Trafford with the same number of games played.
Vauxhall Motors have a slightly better home than away record, winning six, drawing two and losing eight at Rivacre Park and winning four, drawing two and losing eight on their travels. The big difference being though that they have scored just 11 goals away from home compared to 29 at home. Their leading scorers are Conor Harwood with six goals (including one in the FA Trophy) and Ben Holmes with five although Harwood has since moved on to Bootle.
In the reverse fixture this season Vauxhall Motors beat Hednesford 3-2 back in October. Despite twice taking the lead through Danny Glover (15 minutes) and Demitri Brown (48 minutes), two goals in the last six minutes gave the Motormen all three points following Lucas Yeomans’ red card.
Yeomans is expected to be the only absentee from the Hednesford squad on Tuesday as Paul Moore takes charge of his first league game at Keys Park following Saturday’s win at 1874 Northwich and last Friday night’s penalty shoot-out Birmingham Senior Cup defeat against Coventry City.
Kick off will be at 7.45pm with gates and bars open at 6pm. Admission is £11 adults, £8 concessions and £3 U16s with car parking £3 and the multi award winning programme costing £2.50.
