Match Preview: Solihull Moors (H)
Hednesford Town go into their FA Trophy First Round tie with Solihull Moors as underdogs due to the one division gap but The Pitmen, unbeaten in seven and off the back of an outstanding first half performance at Matlock Town are no doubt confident of causing a shock.
The Pitmen have a good pedigree in the Trophy having thrashed Blue Square Conference North side Hyde United 5-0 with a memorable home performance in 2008 and they also beat Welling United of the Blue Square Conference South 4-3 in the same campaign. Their supporters and players also have the famous victorious campaign in 2004 to draw inspiration from.
Hednesford will have the same squad which performed so well against Matlock to choose from for a game which could see them through to the last 32 of the Trophy.
The Pitmen’s opponents tomorrow have shown reliable form in their past six matches, winning three and drawing three, but fellow Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division side AFC Fylde caused a shock against The Moors with a 4-1 win in the FA Cup earlier this season.
Early indications regarding the condition of the Keys Park pitch are good despite the heavy rain on Thursday evening and, with no further downpours forecast until kick off tomorrow, the game is very likely to go ahead with no pitch inspection planned.
