Match Preview: Nuneaton Town (A)

Friday 29/04/2016

This Saturday Hednesford Town will bring an end to the season and life in the National League North for now when we make the short trip down to the A5 to take on Nuneaton Town.

After seeing his side pick up a victory and a draw in his first two matches as caretaker manager, Kyle Patterson will be hoping to see his side end the season unbeaten as they pay a visit to Nuneaton for the first time in over six years.

Our last visit to Nuneaton saw a goal apiece from Tyrone Barnett and Ross Dyer help us progress in the Southern League Cup after having suffered a 3-1 defeat earlier in that campaign.

The game against the Boro at Keys Park earlier this season saw the away side controlling things in the first period and they soon found themselves 2-0 to the good. Goals from Danico Johnson and Kyle Perry drew the Pitmen level before two penalties condemned us to defeat.

Caretaker Manager Patterson said:

“We shall be heading into the game like we would do any other – in that we want to win the game of football.

“Although the season may be over for us in regards to league positions we shall still be going out there to try and win on Saturday.

“It is a match that still has something riding on it for them as they need the win in order to try and get into the play-offs.”

Goalkeeper Dan Crane is expected to miss out again due to a calf injury and midfielder Tom Thorley will also be missing due to a troublesome knee problem. Other than that Patterson will have a full squad to choose from.

As usual, the match kicks off at 3pm and this game will see the Pitmen playing in their away kit.
