Congratulations Gav

Tuesday 20/05/2014

Last weekend saw our Club Physiotherapist Gavin Blackwell rewarded for his hard work, both on and off the pitch, after he picked up the Football Medical Association twenty years in football award at a new star-studded event.

This award recognises those who have served 20 years or more in both academy and semi-professional football, with Gavin being present to collect his award at the Football Medical Association awards dinner, where former Arsenal and England physio Fred Street was guest of honour.

More than 150 representatives from clubs at all levels attended the inaugural conference at Radisson Blu Hotel, East Midlands Airport, which included seminars from some of the leading figures in the industry.

During his time as a physiotherapist, Gav has notched up more than 2,000 matches in senior non-league, academy and senior Sunday league football for a variety of teams. Since joining Hednesford Town in 2009, after succeeding the long-serving Don Drakeley, Gav has been a familiar face on match days, both in and out of the dressing room and we hope to see him around Keys Park for a number of years to come yet.

Everyone at Hednesford Town Football Club would like to congratulate Gavin on reaching this great landmark.
