Match Preview: Stalybridge Celtic (H)

Friday 07/08/2015

Hednesford Town begin their third consecutive season in the newly-named Vanarama National League North with a home game against Stalybridge Celtic this weekend.

After six weeks of hard work in pre-season, all attentions now turn towards the first home game of the campaign against a side that were ironically the final home opponents of last season.

Both sides have seen big changes over the summer and they will be very different from those that met in April – with one former Celtic player in Paul Ennis set to line up against them for the Pitmen following his move to Keys Park.

Although manager Rob Smith has made a number of moves in the transfer market, he is set to be without John Disney who pulled a hamstring on Thursday evening, while Jon Adams and Paul McCone are also missing due to injury.

Strikers Kyle Perry and Ahmed Obeng are also doubtful after picking up knocks recently – but both will be given every chance of being available for the game.

He will be boosted by the arrival of Tom Thorley, with his registration being confirmed this afternoon, while Andy Todd has also agreed a new deal to stay at the club for the forthcoming campaign.

With the weather set well for the weekend, hopefully a good crowd will be in attendance for the first game of the new season which kicks off at 3.00pm.
