Match Preview: Buxton (A)

Friday 13/01/2017

A trip to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League leaders awaits on Saturday for the Pitmen as we travel to Buxton – weather permitting.

Our hosts tomorrow afternoon moved to the  top spot in the league last weekend and will be looking to complete a league double over us following their 2-1 victory at Keys Park back in October.

We have a mixed record when visiting the Silverlands, with us having recorded five victories and four defeats in the nine games between the two sides.

After wintry flurries in Derbyshire over the course of the last 48 hours, supporters are advised to keep an eye online for news of any planned pitch inspections.

Manager Paul Casey was hoping to bounce back after last weekend’s defeat against Spennymoor Town.

He said:

“We’ve got a squad of players here now that want to play for Hednesford Town Football Club. This team will evolve as we play and the fitness will evolve as we get to know each other.

“I understand that the fans are frustrated at how things have panned out but no-one is more frustrated than me.

“As a group of players I believe that we have got a really good team here. On our day we look brilliant but then at times we do look as though we haven’t played together and that is something which will only come with games.”

On the injury front, Tom Thorley trained with the squad on Thursday, and if he doesn’t have a reaction to his hip problem then he will be back in contention. Lewis Wright is currently undertaking rehab work, with a look to returning to full training, after suffering from a knee injury over the last six weeks.

The game kicks off at the usual time of 3pm and we hope that you can make the trip to support the Pitmen – there are still a few spaces available on the Travel Club coach, phone Ken Leese (07935723290) to book a seat.
