Match Preview: Rushall Olympic (H)

Friday 20/01/2017

We return home in the league for the first time in six weeks this weekend – with a local derby against Rushall Olympic on the horizon.

After suffering a late defeat at Rushall back in October, the Pitmen will be looking to avenge that as they aim to get back to winning ways in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

Both teams have stuttered of late after good starts to the campaign and Rushall visit Keys Park for the first time in over four years – with them gaining a memorable 4-3 victory on that occasion.

Manager Paul Casey was looking forward to seeing his side back in action again after playing just two league games in the last five weeks.

He said:

“Saturday afternoon will prove to be a very good local derby against a Rushall side that have been on average the third or fourth best side in the league this season.

“It will be a tough game but one that we are very much looking forward to – if only to get back and see some regular football again after a lean few weeks.

“A lot of things have happened since that last league game here, not only have we seen no less than four games fall victim to the weather but we’ve played against some tough teams on good runs with a squad of players that were still getting to know each other.

“Although it has been a bit hit and miss over the last six weeks I must say that the spirit in the camp is really good.”

The manager is set to be without Lewis Wright (knee) but Danny Glover is set to be available again after a sickness bug while Tony Clarke (hip) will face a late fitness test to see if he will be involved.

The game kicks off at 3pm and Strikers Bar will be open to all supporters both before and after the match.
