Hednesford Town 4-0 Mansfield Town XI

Sunday 23/07/2017

Hednesford Town made it three wins out of four in pre-season after comfortably seeing off a Mansfield Town XI.

The Pitmen made the best possible start to the game as they edged ahead in just the seventh minute when Luke Rodgers fired home following a defensive mistake from former Pitmen loanee Bradley Peace McDonald.

It was 2-0 after 24 minutes when Rodgers confidently fired home low into the corner from 12 yards after the Pitmen had been awarded a penalty for a pull on Jordan Nadat by Peace McDonald who was substituted soon after.

Ten minutes later Town made it 3-0 after a fine through ball by Rodgers to Matt Dodd who picked out Jordan Nadat with a cross that was confidently dispatched into the net.

The first half belonged to the Pitmen who had also hit the bar and the post as well as having a Nadat goal ruled out for offside.

HT: 3-0

The second half turned into a somewhat quieter affair as both sides made changes in order to give all their available players game time. Hednesford made seven substitutions at the break with just Mutton, Thorley, Dodd and Rodgers remaining from the first half although Rodgers would be replaced by Ryan Nesbitt with ten minutes to go.

Just a couple of minutes from the end of normal time Hednesford were able to add a fourth goal though as Lee Smith made it two in two for himself with a powerful header from Kris Taylor’s corner.

The Pitmen’s attentions now turn towards Tuesday evening when they will host Tamworth at Keys Park. Kick off will be at 7.30pm.
