Match Preview: Lancaster City (A)

Friday 29/12/2017

Tomorrow sees the second of three games inside a week for the Pitmen as we prepare to make the journey up the M6 to take on Lancaster City.

After producing a comeback from behind to snatch victory on Boxing Day against Rushall Olympic, Rob Smith will be looking for similar from his side on Saturday – with him having been able to add Reece King back to his squad earlier today.

Our last trip to Lancaster came over 11 years ago now when we were both in the Conference North and the hosts gained a 1-0 victory.

Smith was hoping his side could continue from where they left off on Tuesday saying:

“The lads were determined to put in a strong performance for the supporters, it was something we spoke about before the game in depth.

“Despite going behind, after starting on the front foot, we put in our best all round performance of the season and should have won by a bigger margin in the end. The support was simply amazing again, and we are coming together again as a club which is a great feeling.”

The manager will still be without defender Ben Bailey, who is recovering from a fracture to his foot, while Darren Campion will face a fitness test to see if he can be involved after missing the last two fixtures. Louis Harris and Danny Glover will both be unavailable for selection with their respective three and one game suspensions due to kick in.

The game kicks off at the usual time of 3pm and we thank all Pitmen supporters who are planning on making the long journey to Lancaster for tomorrow’s game.
