Match Preview: Whitby Town (H)

Friday 26/01/2018

Hednesford Town prepare to return to league action tomorrow after having had a two week break – with Whitby Town set to make the long journey down to Keys Park.

After drawing last time out against Coalville Town we aim to extend our unbeaten run of six matches against a Whitby side that we drew 2-2 with earlier in the season, thanks to two second half goals from Jordan Graham.

Whitby’s last trip to Keys Park came near the start of last season when we played out a 1-1 draw.

Manager Rob Smith was looking forward to seeing his side get back into action after an enforced two break.

“Whitby Town are a team that have improved a lot recently and have had good results at both Shaw Lane and Rushall in recent weeks.

“Last time out we drew at home to Coalville, which in the end we were very grateful for courtesy of a very late Jim Lawrie equaliser. On the day we never really got going and I thought that we looked a little tired all over the park. Add to this we had a couple of players missing through illness and injury, and some who played were suffering from the flu virus that is going around.

“I think the break has done us some good though, we have now had chance to get everyone back fully fit, and hopefully the boys will be raring to go.”

The manager is set to have a fully fit squad for the visit of Whitby.

It can now also be confirmed that contrary to previous reports, Mason Walsh didn’t join the Pitmen on a loan deal from Altrincham in December but instead signed a non-contract deal.

The game kicks off at 3pm and we look forward to welcoming you to Keys Park with Strikers Bar open to both sets of supporters before and after the game.
