Match Preview: Sutton Coldfield Town (A)

Friday 13/04/2018

The busy run of fixtures continues for Hednesford Town on Saturday as we make the short journey to Sutton Coldfield Town.

After a mixed week in the cups, seeing us reach one cup final and lose in the semi-final of another, the Pitmen will be hoping to get back to winning ways against the recently relegated Sutton.

Supporters will remember that our game against Sutton at Keys Park earlier in the season was Rob Smith’s first back in-charge of the Pitmen, seeing us run out 3-0 winners.

Ahead of the game Rob Smith said:

“It has obviously been somewhat of an up and down week with the two cup games that we had – although I must admit that it was pleasing to reach the Staffordshire Senior Cup final.

“Now our attentions turn back towards the league and we come up against a Sutton side that will no doubt be playing with a lot of freedom now. This is something that our small squad, which has been tested even further this week, will have to be wary of.”

The manager is set to be without Matt Curley and Sam Oji through injury while Ben Bailey is still suspended. Meanwhile James Wren, Reece King, Darren Campion, Callam Mendez-Jones and James Fitzgibbon all picked up knocks during the week and will have to be assessed before the game to see if they will be fit for selection.

The game kicks-off at the usual time of 3pm and we thank those supporters who are planning on making the trip across to Sutton.
