Thorley Departs Keys Park

Thursday 21/06/2018

Hednesford Town Football Club can this evening confirm that midfielder Tom Thorley has left Keys Park in order to sign for Stafford Rangers for an undisclosed fee.

Following the announcement that the Pitmen would be moving into the new Southern League Central division there had been concerns, like others from last season’s squad, surrounding travel situations that would arise from such a move.

As such, with Tom under contract for another year, it was agreed that the club would listen to offers for the player. During this period two sides met the valuation of the player and after Tom held discussions with both clubs, and due to the nature of Stafford’s closeness to his home, Tom has decided to link up with Rangers.

Thorley played over 200 games for the Pitmen after first signing for the club in November 2013. Despite leaving at the end of the 2014/15 season he returned ahead of the new campaign and once again continued to be an excellent servant for us.

Everyone at Keys Park would like to thank Tom for his commitment over the course of the best part of five years and wish him well for the future.

The Pitmen can also confirm that our appeal with the FA over league allocation will be held on Monday 2 July.
