Just 62 days after ending the last campaign a new look Hednesford Town team prepare to begin their latest pre-season this evening as we make the short journey to Heath Hayes.
After seeing plans of a league change altered at the start of June, the Pitmen will be using the next eight weeks as preparation for a return to Northern Premier League action on Saturday 18 August.
This evening will give manager Rob Smith a chance to see the new faces in action that he has brought in over the summer – while also allowing him to give a number of trialists a chance to impress. Due to our squad still being a rather small one it means that the number of players who are on trial will of course be high – nothing about those players will be confirmed though, only if they do eventually sign a deal with the club.
Our hosts this evening will no doubt be looking to give us another tough test – as they have done over the last couple of summers. The Pitmen though will be aiming to repeat the same kind of score that we recorded a year to the day when we ran out 5-2 winners.
Hopefully a number of Hednesford fans will be able to make the short journey to Heath Hayes in order to kick-start what is set to be a memorable week of football all around the world.
