Squad Update

Friday 18/01/2019

It has been a busy week for the Hednesford Town management team as they look to overhaul their playing squad following a poor run of form since the turn of the year.

Manager Nicky Eaden and assistant manager Gary Hayward have been able to add seven new faces to the first team squad – while five players have been released.

First to arrive was 18-year-old defender Danny Lupano who links up with the Pitmen after being with Birmingham City most recently. Lupano, who can play all across the backline, signed for Blues in the summer after impressing at Solihull Moors.

Last night saw a flurry of new players signing forms with the club. We are pleased to announce the signing of striker Kieran Wells from Evo-Stik Northern League First Division East side Spalding United. Wells has been in hot form recently scoring three goals in his last five matches after arriving from Basford United in December 2018. Wells also lists AFC Mansfield and Stamford AFC among his former clubs.

The Pitmen have also moved to bring in experienced striker Shane Benjamin from Evo-Stik Southern Central side Stratford Town. Benjamin is a powerful and experienced frontman whose previous clubs include Stourbridge, Shepshed Dynamo, Stafford Rangers and Nuneaton Borough.

Another new attacking option who this week agreed a deal with the club is forward Ashanti Pryce who joins from Bromsgrove Sporting. Pryce has previously featured for Solihull Moors reserves and Mansfield Town U21s.

We have also moved to bring in right-back Lance Mayo – who was most recently with North Ferriby United. The full-back began his career with Coventry City before being snapped up by League Two side Mansfield Town, moving into non-league football this season.

Another new face comes in the form of Javan Vidal who can play in both defence and midfield and arrives from Bradford Park Avenue. The 29-year-old began his career with Manchester City before spending time in the Football League with Derby County and Chesterfield. After moving to Greece to ply his trade a move into non-league football followed with a move to Stockport before spells with Tamworth, Wrexham and Guiseley followed. Moving to Bradford in the summer of 2017.

Finally, we are delighted to announce that defender Jon Moran has arrived at Keys Park on a one month loan deal from Chester FC. The 21-year-old joined the Blues from League Two side Forest Green Rovers and has experience at this level having played for Nantwich Town.

Meanwhile we can confirm that Isaac Cooper, Rudy Misambo, Jed Davies, Andre Johnson and Romario Martin have all departed Keys Park this week. We’d like to thank all for their efforts while with the club and wish them well for the future.

In addition, midfielder Ryan Shaw left last week to return to his former club Boldmere St Michaels while although the registrations of Sufyan Zia and Mikey Nelson have been retained they aren’t training with the club and are unlikely to return to the Pitmen.
