Match Preview: South Shields (A)

Friday 05/04/2019

The two in-form teams in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League go head-to-head tomorrow afternoon as Hednesford Town make their first ever trip to Mariners Park, the home of South Shields.

Our hosts on Saturday have taken 16 points from a possible 18 in their last six league matches – seeing them move up to second in the league table and just a point behind leaders Farsley Celtic. The Pitmen meanwhile have picked up 14 points in that same time as we pulled clear of the relegation zone and into mid table.

Nicky Eaden’s side know that there is still some work to do though as we look to end the season strongly and build on the recent upturn in form. It will be a tough test tomorrow with the hosts having lost only once in their 17 home games so far this season.

Two goals from striker Dan Sweeney proved to be the difference between the two teams during the fixture at Keys Park back in October – something we will be hoping will be the same again tomorrow.

The Pitmen go into the game having to assess the fitness of defender Jon Moran with the on-loan Chester man having been forced to sit out the last two matches due to injury

The game kicks-off at the usual Saturday time of 3pm and we thank those Pitmen supporters who are making the long journey to the north east.
